In a case similar to the movie, ‘Oh my God’, a practising lawyer has filed a case against Lord Rama in the court of the chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Sitamarhi in north Bihar.
Thakur Chandan Kumar Singh, the complainant stated that Lord Rama had banished Sita for life in a forest without any valid reason.
Singh said, “The Devi was exiled (given ‘vanvasa’) for no fault of hers. It was a hypocritical order from king Rama. How can a man become so cruel to his wife that he sends her off to live in a forest?”
Singh said that Rama was wrong in punishing his wife who was later found innocent. Singh said that Rama did this even after Sita had sworn an oath in front of the sacred fire to live with her husband till death. “Lord Rama did not think for a single moment how a woman could live alone amid wild animals, including reptiles and mammals, in the forest,” said Singh. CJM agreed to take up the case for hearing on February 1. He also added that he did not intent to hurt anyone’s sentiment.
