The video shows Air India staff refusing entry to passengers with valid tickets because they had reached 55 minutes before the flight departure instead of 60 minutes as per the staff members seen in the video that has gone viral.
The two-minute long video, shot by a passenger, shows the passengers and the AI staff engaged in an argument with the passengers who “turned up after the reporting time”.
The passengers however claim that they had received an SMS saying that they need to arrive at the airport 45 minutes before departure as against the stipulated 60 minutes. On its website, listing out the closing times for the check in counters, Air India writes, “For domestic leg of the International flights operating from the International Wing of Terminal 3 at Delhi IGI Airport, counters will close 60 minutes prior departure.
Passengers are advised to report at the check in counters well in time.
The video shows the passengers begging and pleading with the AI staff to check them in, the staff refuses to budge.
A woman can even be seen crying and begging to be checked in so that she can catch the plane. The description of the video, which has been viewed more than 7 lakh times and shared nearly 17,000 times, also says that “one of the passenger’s mother was in ICU fighting for her life”.
