Botsa Doing More Harm Than Help To Jagan?

botsa

Not long ago, former Andhra Pradesh Congress party president and former minister Botsa Satyanarayana was ruling the roost in the Congress party in united Andhra Pradesh. While he wielded influence on the Congress party at the state-level, his family members were in full control over the party affairs in Vizianagaram district.

His wife Botsa Jhansi was a Congress MP and his younger brother Botsa Appala Narasaiah and cousin Appala Naidu were virtually dominating the district politics. The family has complete control over liquor syndicates in the district and faced charges in the liquor mafia case. Botsa himself earned notoriety for indulging in Volkswagen scam.

After the Congress was routed in the 2014 elections, Botsa and all his family members defected to the YSR Congress party and brought the entire party in the district under their control.

Jagan, too, is learnt to have given a free hand to Botsa because of his popularity and seniority. Not a single day passes without Botsa addressing press conferences in Lotus Pond.

However, Botsa’s domination seems to have done more harm than help to Jagan. Party’s district unit president and MLC Kolagatla Veerabhadraswamy, who singlehandedly organised a massive `Yuvabheri’ programme in Vizianagaram recently, resigned from the party post, because Botsa claimed all credit for the show. He is also not happy with Botsa interfering in the party affairs.

Apparently, Swamy was not happy with Jagan for ignoring him and giving too much importance to Botsa. One wonders what Jagan would gain by losing loyalists like Swamy at the cost of turncoats like Botsa. But that is Jagan’s style!
