The mass attraction of M.S. Dhoni stood underlined as a mob of over 1000 gathering the Ferozeshah Kotla awaiting to watch him play the leading role for Jharkhand. But that was not to be. Bengal did not let temporary lapses upset its plans of making Monday’s final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Tamil Nadu here.
After boldly marching to 329 for four in 50 overs, Bengal bowled out Jharkhand for 288 to register a comfortable 41-run victory.
The crowd applauded every run the former India captain shot but was left unsatisfied when Dhoni was bowled after an entertaining 62-ball 70.
Earlier, a business-like Bengal made the most of the invitation to bat. Openers Shreevats Goswami and Abhimanyu Easwaran got centuries each as they set the foundation for the team’s high score.
Skipper Manoj Tiwary provided the necessary impetus by scoring an unbeaten 75 off just 49 deliveries as the last 10 overs presented 99 run
