In a major setback to Telangana government, Apple Inc has decided to set up its assembling unit, largest office outside USA, in India’s tech city Bangalore contrary to the previous reports of setting up in Hyderabad. The State government of Karnataka said on Friday that it welcomes Apple’s proposal commence initial manufacturing operations in Bengaluru. Karnataka IT minister Priyank Kharge said Apple’s intentions to manufacture in Bengaluru will foster cutting edge technology eco system and supply chain development in Karnataka.
Now, this is expected to be a major embarrassment to TRS and especially its IT, ELectronics & Communication minister KT Ramarao.
KTR earlier in May 2016 announced, “With Apple, Hyderabad now is proud to be home to four of the top 5 most valued tech companies’ largest office outside USA: Google, Microsoft & Amazon.”
All the hype created by KTR had now turned out to be a damp squib with Apple preferring Bangalore over Hyderabad. This ended up with ‘Baigan’ (Brinjal – famous word used in Hyderabad for failure).
KTR even led an IT department delegation on a week-long tour to the US to attract more investments to Telangana. he had met the leaders of Oracle, Cisco, Microsoft, Amazon.
Let’s see what KTR would come up with to compensate the loss of losing Apple to Bangalore.
