More than 2 weeks after PM Narendra Modi’s flash announcement of demonetization of higher denomination currency notes, Leader of Opposition and YSRCP President YS Jagan came out of his hibernation and responded over currency ban in a press meet in Rajahmundry today.
Jagan said that any normal person would publicly reply that he is happy with the current ban if it will eradicate black money in the country. “But deep inside, no Indian citizen is happy with the way Narendra Modi’s government has handled the currency ban after effects,” Jagan languished.
Ruing further, Jagan said that while the ruling party always makes its own decisions, it’s us, the common people who are always at the receiving end, who will have to forcibly follow what the think-tank at the centre orders.
Jagan further reiterated that being the main opposition, his duty is to voice people’s problems and that nobody is happy with currency ban and that people’s condition is pitiable to say the least due to the haphazard execution of demonetization. Even though Jagan tried to take people’s side, one can’t help but feel that his response came in quite late.
