KCR confirms Kaka’s memorial on Necklace road
Necklace road is going to have another memorial of a politician.Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today decided to set up a memorial for Telangana stalwart and Dalit leader G Venkataswamy (Kaka) at Necklace Road. KCR took the decision after Kaka’s son G Vivek called on him for the land for the memorial.
KCR directed HMDA Chairman Pradip Chandra to find place at Necklace road for the purpose. Speaking on the eve KCR said that Kaka fought relentlessly for statehood .Memorial should be built in such a way that future generations will remember Kaka; he said.
G. Venkatswamy is one of the senior-most congress leader hails from telangana.He recently died after prolonged illness. Venkatswamy who is popularly known as “Kaka” was elected to the Lok Sabha seven times.
Kaka held several important positions in the Congress as its working committee member, Union Minister, State party president and member of several Parliamentary standing committees. He founded the B.R. Ambedkar Education Society which was converted into a public education trust.
