The sudden U-turn taken by Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram on his political entry has raised many eyebrows.
It was only the other day that he rejected outright the speculations about launching his own political party. But within a couple of days, he changed his stand and said there was a need for political change in the state and time would decide on his political entry.
What has brought about change in Kodandaram within two days? According to sources close to him, the professor is under pressure from his followers to build an alternative political platform against the TRS.
Though it is not exactly a political party at the moment, it would act as a political forum with leaders of various like-minded political parties to fight on various issues.
“It is more or less like the TJAC. The only difference is that it will have a political base, unlike the TJAC which comprises representatives from all sections including workers, teachers, employees, students and common people’s organisations. In the long-run, it might transform into a political outfit,” a source said.
Since Kodandaram has the credibility among the people, his political strategies are expected to get a lot of support from the people. May be in the long run, it will transform into powerful coalition of political parties which would fight the next elections unitedly, the source said.
