Vice President of Indian National Congress Party, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday condoled the death of 23-year Kashmiri army officer Ummer Fayaz on his Twitter page and said his memory will never be ignored. Rahul also said that the entire country shares the pain of Lieutenant’s family, friends, and colleagues.
The officer, who’s serving in Akhnoor district, had been cruelly killed by militants after abducting him from his relative’s house in Shopian. Reportedly, Ummer was in Shopian district to attend the marriage of a relative.
Responding to the shocking murder of young army officer in Kashmir. by a group of terrorists on 9th May, Rahul said in a couple of tweets, “His memory will never be ignored. Those who tried to defeat what he stood for, will themselves be defeated The entire nation shares the grief of Lt Ummer Fayaz’ family, friends & colleagues. My heartfelt condolences.”
Calling this brutal killing ‘an act of fear’, union minister Arun Jaitley expressed his anguish and said, ‘he (Lt. Ummer) would continue to inspire youth from the valley.’ On other hands, Army doesn’t want the officer’s death to go in vain and vowed to bring the responsible militants to justice.
