Spain Football Federation Backs Del Bosque Despite Debacle
The Spanish Football Federation says it wants nationwide trainer Vicente del Bosque to remain in cost despite the titleholders’ amazing removal from the World Cup after just two matches.
Federation director Jorge Perez tells Cope Radio “if he wants to go, we’ll persuade him to stay. He is the ideal man to lead the transition the selection needs.”
The 63-year-old Del Bosque is under contract through 2016, but said after Spain’s second decrease in as many activities in Brazil that “we will need time to find what’s best for Spanish football, and that includes me.”
Del Bosque guided Spain to World Cup glory in 2010 and helped it successfully defend its European title in 2012. Spain will play Australia on Monday.
